Raindance Farm - Whey Fed Pork
Like all our livestock, our hogs are raised seasonally. When our cows all calve with the coming of spring grass, the ensuing cheese making presents an opportunity for our omnivore pigs - whey. We vary their diet with fresh greens from the garden, organic grains grown with no chemicals, organic cow colostrum, Redmond salt, and minerals. The resulting pork has an uncanny fresh taste with a firm texture. We raise a variety of breeds that include Tamworth, Duroc, and Yorkshire crosses. They are on a 100% organic diet as we are in the process of getting the pork certified organic like the rest of the farm. Come summer we will have an abundance of the following pork cuts:
- Loin Chops
- Ham and Ham Hocks
- Bacon
- Irish Breakfast Sausage
- Hot Italian Sausage
- Sweet Italian Sausage
- Chorizo Sausage
